To sum up the '70s seems
impossible — so much happened in this decade. We started
this incredible decade in 1970 which marked the deaths of
Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison, who all die at
the age of 27. The decline of psychedelic music, the Beatles
broke up and recorded their last album Let it Be. We saw
the birth and quick demise of the Disco era, its music and
fashion.
Who can forget those iconic movies,
The Godfather, Godfather II, The Deer Hunter, The Exorcist,
Superman, Star Wars, and all time classic, American Graffiti
just to name a few.
It was a decade that changed
America as we knew it. Vietnam, Watergate dominated the
early seventies, the oil embargo of the middle seventies
which gave us our first gas crisis, there was no shortage of
political and economic turmoil and unrest.
If you grew up and went to Lynbrook
in the 1970’s, How can you not remember these iconic times.
