Lynbrook and the 1960's |
*Lynbrook
High School opened on September 13, 1965, with an enrollment
of 1,026 freshmen and sophomores. Because Cupertino
High School had
grown very large by that time, a new school in the West San
Jose area was constructed.
The District Board nominated
Kendall Stanger as the first principal of the school. The
school was technologically advanced around the time it was
built and had closed-circuit television and air
conditioning.
During the first year, there was no gymnasium,
locker room, or swimming pool. By the second school year,
the gymnasium, locker room, and an Olympic-size swimming
pool had been built.
The first graduating class was the class of 1968, followed
by the class of 1969. As we mentioned, Lynbrook opened in
1965 with only freshman and Sophmore's .
The Class of 1968 will always be considered one of
Lynbrook's finest being it was our first gaduating class. We
honor this momentous occasion: The Class of 1968, your
presence has shaped our school's identity, and your
achievements serve as an inspiration for generations that
followed. You have earned the title of pioneers,
setting the standard for future graduates to follow. May God
Bless the class of 1968 of Lynbrook High School.
